KUWAIT CITY, May 14: In the presence of Kuwait’s sports leaders, led by the President of Kuwait Olympic Committee Sheikh Fahad Al-Nasser and officials of the Public Authority for Sports, as well as the Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea Chung Byung-ha, the Korean Ambassador’s Taekwondo Championship was concluded in the Volleyball Association hall in Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Complex. A large audience of fans and enthusiasts of the game were present to enjoy the dazzling performance by the Korean Kukkiwon Taekwondo team, which is considered the most famous in the world and had previously entered the Guinness Book of Records.

On the closing day of the tournament, Salwa Club won first place in the Olympic system competition for girls, followed by Al-Fatat Club in second place and Al-Mustaqbal Club in third. In the youth Olympic system competitions, Kuwait Club came first, followed by Al-Nasser Club in second place and Burgan Club in third. In the open competitions for women, Al- Fatat Club came first, Al-Tadamon second, and Salwa third. The South Korean Ambassador Chung Byung-ha expressed his happiness about the successful conclusion of the tournament, which bears his name. He affirmed that the tournament was organized professionally by the Kuwait Taekwondo Federation, and witnessed the performance of the Korean show team - Kukkiwon - which dazzled everyone with its great style.

The ambassador said, “The public attendance was huge, which indicates the good level the game has reached in Kuwait, thanks to the interest of the Taekwondo Federation headed by Hani Al-Mershad in recent years.” Furthermore, the President of the Kuwait Olympic Committee Sheikh Fahad Al-Nasser praised the wonderful conclusion of the Korean Ambassador’s Taekwondo Championship. He said, “The conclusion was different from the rest of the tournaments, thanks to the dazzling show by the Korean show team, which won the admiration and amazement of everyone.” Sheikh Fahad affirmed that the Kuwait Taekwondo Federation has proven its great success in organizing championships, stressing that the Kuwait Olympic Committee stands with such successful federations in order to advance the game and spread it on a wider scale among the masses.

In addition, the President of the Kuwait Taekwondo Federation Hani Al-Mershad thanked the Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea Chung Byung-ha for his sponsorship of the tournament. He also appreciated the great support of the Kuwait Olympic Committee, the Public Authority for Sports, and the committees working in the tournament, which worked during the past period to ensure the success of the tournament. Al-Mershad indicated that the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Taekwondo Federation will work to implement the plan to develop the game and advance it for the better, and organize tournaments, in addition to working on external participation through the national team in an appropriate manner.
