KAZAKHSTAN, Nov 26: Kuwait’s team secured a second-place finish at the Kyokushinkan World Tournament in Almaty, Kazakhstan on Sunday. Hasan Al-Kanderi, the head of Kuwait’s delegation, informed KUNA that Al-Zayed, a Kyokushinkan player, clinched second place in the open weight category for men over 45, following the Russian team.

Al-Kanderi commended the Kuwaiti team’s performance throughout the tournament, expressing their intent to participate in the upcoming Arab Kyokushinkan tournament hosted by Saudi Arabia in December, as well as the Asian and European tournament scheduled for Istanbul next year.

The Kuwaiti team, led by coach Mubarak Al-Ajmi and assistant coach Dhari Al-Shammari, includes players Khaled Al-Zayed, Dhari Al-Enezi, Saud Al-Daihan, Othman Al-Mashoh, Sulaiman Al-Zaidan, Essa Al-Fahad, Mohammad Al-Saedi, and Abdulaziz Al-Azmi.

Kyokushinkan Karate gained popularity in Kuwait in 1975, leading to the formation of a committee under the Olympic Committee’s purview in 2007 to oversee the sport.
