Kuwait bids adieu to the Asian Shooting Championship

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 20: Today marks the conclusion of the Kuwait Asian Shooting Championship, which commenced on January 12 at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah “Olympic” ranges complex. The event witnessed the participation of 26 countries, culminating in the qualifiers and final for the mixed doubles competition in the “skeet” shooting category. The focus of the day is on finalizing the contracts for the eight qualifying tickets to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Meanwhile, Chinese shooter Gao Linmei clinched the gold medal in the women’s skeet competition final, securing a score of 56 after a fierce competition with Indian shooter Dillon Raiza (52), who secured second place and the silver medal. Both shooters earned qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The bronze medal was awarded to Indian shooter Chauhan Maheshwari.

Prince Khalid bin Bandar Al Saud, Vice President of the Saudi and Asian Shooting Federations, emphasized Saudi Arabia’s commitment to strong participation in major Asian and international shooting championships. He highlighted the significance of the Kuwait Asian Shooting Championship as a major global tournament, praising its excellent organization and the state-of-the-art Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Arena Complex. Prince Khalid noted the participation of strong Asian teams with international male and female shooters, all aiming for qualification for the Paris Olympics in 2024.

Prince Khalid expressed satisfaction with the performance of Saudi shooters in the tournament and shared the federation’s aspirations for continuous improvement and better results in the future. He acknowledged the unwavering support of Saudi leadership, with direct oversight from the Minister of Sports and President of the Saudi Game Federation, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal.

In conclusion, Prince Khalid commended the efforts of the Asian Federations, led by Sheikh Salman Al-Hamoud, and the Kuwaiti Federation, led by Engineer Duaij Al-Otaibi, for their exceptional organization and meticulous attention to detail.
