KUWAIT CITY, Oct 11: Al-Ojairi Scientific Center announced that the Wasm season (natural rains in Kuwait and the region) is approaching and will begin on Thursday, reports Al-Seyassah daily. According to a press release issued by the center, the Wasm season lasts for 52 days, divided into four phases - “Al-Awa’,” “Al-Samak,” “Al- Ghafirah,” and “Al-Zabana,” each lasting 13 days. The Wasm season is marked by the sun’s continued southward tilt, causing a noticeable decrease in the angle of the sun’s rays and fewer heating hours during the day. As the Wasm season begins, the weather moderates and temperatures drop. The “Al-Awa’” phase is characterized by moderate daytime weather and cool nights, with significant bird migration continuing. At the start of the Wasm season, daylight hours shorten significantly while nighttime hours increase, with sunrise occurring later and sunset earlier. The onset of the Wasm season is marked by the beginning of rainfall, which signals the approach of a prosperous spring and the appearance of truffles. Meanwhile, Kuwait is witnessing strong winds that trigger dust waves exceeding 50 km/h and lowering visibility in undeveloped regions, the national meteorological center said on Saturday
Dhirar Al-Ali, the director of weather forecasting, told KUNA Kuwait is now affected with a northwestern high altitude with moderate winds leading to sea waves more than six feet in height. Forecast temperature, in the coming hours, will range between 21-23 degrees minimum and 34-36 degrees maximum. The dust is projected to begin receding as of tonight, when horizontal visibility improves. The weather on Sunday will be tilting toward heat during the day, turns relatively humid at coastal regions. At night, it will be moderate and moist. In the coming days, the weather will be humid at nighttime in the coastal regions when the winds turn southeasterly.
