Kuwait and Google Cloud: Key partnership for achieving vision 2035

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 8: Minister of State for Communications Affairs Omar Al-Omar emphasized that the ongoing collaboration between Kuwait and Google Cloud is a strategic milestone in realizing Kuwait Vision 2035, which focuses on enhancing digital transformation and establishing a smart economy.

Speaking at the opening of the Cloud Day 2024 event organized by Google Cloud in Kuwait, Minister Al-Omar expressed pride in this partnership, highlighting its role in strengthening the country’s digital infrastructure and attracting foreign investments that foster sustainable economic growth.

He noted, “The National Program for Digital Skills Development, launched in collaboration with Google Cloud, underscores our commitment to equipping government employees and Kuwaiti youth with the latest advancements in AI, data science, and cybersecurity solutions. This initiative is an investment in Kuwait’s future, enhancing opportunities for youth in the job market.”

Al-Omar described the partnership with Google Cloud as a significant achievement in Kuwait's pursuit of technological progress, particularly in building a knowledge-based economy. He stated that this collaboration serves as a catalyst for innovation and digital transformation across all sectors, enabling the country to leverage new digital services, improve current operations, and develop innovative solutions that create unprecedented growth and development opportunities.

The Minister highlighted the establishment of a national program for developing digital skills, aimed at training government employees and citizens, especially youth, in the latest technologies, including artificial intelligence, data science, and cybersecurity. He emphasized the importance of participating in these professional courses and certifications, which play a crucial role in enhancing skills and improving individual adaptability to rapid technological changes, thereby increasing employment prospects and strengthening digital security and technological capabilities in Kuwait.

Minister Al-Omar also pointed out the essential role of youth in shaping Kuwait’s future through the launch of the Cloud Hero Workshop. This training program, organized in partnership with Kuwait University and the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, will be held on October 12 at the Kuwait University campus. The workshop aims to provide youth with an immersive experience in cloud computing and artificial intelligence technology, equipping them with essential digital age skills through interactive learning in a fun educational environment.

Calling for action, Al-Omar urged, “We must accelerate the adoption of cloud computing across all sectors, invest in developing our children’s skills, and foster a culture of innovation to fully leverage the potential of Google Cloud and advance Kuwait’s digital future.”

Shaima Al-Terkait, Google Cloud Country Manager for Kuwait, commented on the company's dedication to supporting Kuwait’s digital future, stating, “We are very proud to partner with Kuwait on its ambitious digital transformation journey. We are committed to providing the technology, training, and support needed to help businesses and organizations of all sizes succeed in the cloud.”

Discussing the significance of the Cloud Hero workshop, Al-Terkait added, “The youth of this nation are its greatest asset, and we are proud to launch the Cloud Hero workshop, an innovative training experience designed to inspire the next generation of technology leaders in Kuwait.”

The Cloud Hero workshop will offer participants hands-on labs, interactive learning opportunities, and valuable networking experiences, fostering a vibrant learning community and inspiring young individuals to explore the possibilities of technology and expand their horizons.
