Kuwait Airways Warns of Possible Flight Diversions Due to Heavy Fog

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 11: Kuwait Airways announced on Tuesday that there is a possibility of temporarily diverting incoming flights to Kuwait International Airport due to anticipated weather conditions, particularly the expected formation of fog in several parts of the country.

In a statement posted on its official X platform account, the airline explained that any diversions would be temporary and only in effect until weather conditions improve and visibility stabilizes. In such cases, both arriving and departing flights at Kuwait International Airport would be rescheduled accordingly.

The airline confirmed that passengers will receive updates through the contact details provided on their travel bookings. Kuwait Airways expressed appreciation for travelers’ understanding and cooperation, noting that the situation is driven by factors beyond its control.

The statement urged passengers to update their contact information using one of the following methods:

  • Customer Service Call Center: +965 24345555 (Extension 171) for callers outside Kuwait
  • WhatsApp Service: +965 22200171
  • Official Website: www.kuwaitairways.com

The alert follows a forecast issued by the Kuwait Meteorological Department, which predicted the formation of fog on Tuesday evening, especially over coastal areas and nearby islands.

Acting Director of the Meteorological Department, Dharar Al-Ali, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that weather maps and numerical models indicate that Kuwait will come under the influence of a northwestern high-pressure system, accompanied by moderately warm and humid conditions. Light northwesterly winds are expected to gradually shift to southeasterly winds by Friday.

Al-Ali added that rising humidity levels beginning Wednesday will significantly increase the likelihood of dense fog formation, potentially reducing horizontal visibility to less than 1,000 meters in some areas.
