Kuwait airport sees surge in post-vacation travelers

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 8: With the upcoming start of the new academic year, Kuwait International Airport has been witnessing an influx of travelers returning from summer vacations abroad, particularly from Arab and foreign capitals. The agencies operating at the Kuwait International Airport are ramping up their efforts to facilitate the movement of both departing and arriving passengers.

According to estimates, the total number of travelers at Kuwait International Airport during June, July, and August reached approximately 4.2 million passengers. Yesterday, Kuwait International Airport witnessed the arrival of approximately 174 flights from various Arab and foreign capitals. Egypt was the leading destination with 20 flights, followed by Saudi Arabia with 19 flights, Dubai with 16 flights, and Turkey with 11 flights.

A reliable source from the Kuwait International Airport explained that operational teams and relevant agencies are working tirelessly to ensure smooth arriving and departing passenger movement. Efforts are focused on facilitating passengers’ movement through passport control and guiding them to the transit and customs halls for luggage retrieval. While the summer travel season continues until the end of October, there is a noticeable increase in returnees due to the liter upcoming school year and the return of students and teachers.

The success in organizing the passenger movement this summer is largely due to the availability of multiple airport terminals, which has helped in facilitating movement and preventing congestion. The source revealed that the airport’s work plan is aimed at improving performance in both operational and support sectors while increasing service efficiency to accommodate the rising number of passengers, by deploying work teams to streamline movement, prepare arrival and departure halls, and operate additional counters during peak hours.
