Kuwait airport sees 12% hike in ‘ passenger traffic ’

KUWAIT CITY, July 14, (KUNA): Kuwait International Airport’s passenger traffic had risen by 12 percent in June compared to the same period a year earlier, the Civil Aviation Authority said on Sunday.

Some 1.36 million travelers converged on Kuwait’s airport last month, compared to 1.2 million passengers in the same period last year, according to the Deputy Director General for Air Transport Safety Emad Al- Jalawi. The number of arrivals spiked to 586,07 passengers, versus 505,06 in the same period last year, added the official, putting the number of departures at people, in comparison to 716,07 in 2018.

He revealed that around 10,672 flights took off from and to Kuwait International Airport in June, compared to 10,071 flights the previous year, while freight volume was worth 14.5 million kilograms.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior is organizing a basic course for the protection of Kuwaiti Aircraft (KA), reports Al-Anba daily. The ministry has called on employees of the ministry who wish to join the course to register their names with the Aircraft Protection Department.
