KUWAIT CITY, Oct 23: The Kuwait Society for the Handicapped (KSH) launched an art exhibition for people with disabilities on Wednesday, titled “Paintings of Determination and Beauty,” at The Avenues Mall, showcasing artworks by the Society’s members. The exhibition, sponsored by Kuwait Finance House (KFH) and held in cooperation with Kuwait Art Studio, will continue until October 28.
Speaking to KUNA at the opening, KSH Chairperson Sabeeka Al-Jasser said the exhibition represents the outcome of the Society’s fifth training program, designed to highlight the artistic talents of people with disabilities and promote their social inclusion through fine arts.
Al-Jasser explained that the exhibition features 12 paintings created by students with disabilities, each reflecting determination, creativity, and hope. She emphasized the Society’s ongoing commitment to supporting and encouraging people with disabilities to excel and to play an active role across various fields.
For her part, Dr. Jawaher Al-Bader, fine artist and training supervisor, told KUNA that the exhibition is built on the belief that “disability is not an obstacle to creativity.” She noted that art serves as a profound human medium for expression, communication, and overcoming barriers.
Al-Bader added that participants took part in an intensive art workshop, during which they demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm and expressive ability, translating their feelings into distinctive visual forms. She pointed out that the exhibited artworks bear unique personal imprints and diverse artistic visions, reflecting both the individuality and depth of the participants’ creative experiences.
Expressing gratitude to all supporters and partners, Al-Bader said the exhibition aims to raise public awareness about disability issues and to celebrate the creativity of people with disabilities as an integral and valued part of Kuwaiti society.
