KUWAIT CITY, Nov 19: Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) has yet to collect KD22.346 million – the amount that it spent on dealing with the corona pandemic for fiscals 2020/2021 and 2021/2022, reports Al-Rai quoting sources. Sources disclosed that KPC spent the above mentioned amount to establish and furnish accommodations for the medical and technical staff that provided health care for corona patients at the field hospital in Mishref.

Sources said the corporation had an agreement with the ministries of Finance and Health regarding the reimbursement of its expenses and that of its subsidiaries for the establishment and operation of quarantine centers, field hospitals and the vaccination center along Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Bridge. Sources added the agreement includes the formation of a joint team whose members are from the two ministries and the Financial Controllers Bureau to review the invoices before March 31, 2021.

Sources affirmed that the Finance Ministry approved some of these invoices; while the rest is borne by the Ministry of Health using the budgetary savings for fiscal 2022/2023, with a commitment to include the remaining amount in the budget for fiscal 2023/2024. Sources said the corporation has been closely following up the implementation of this agreement.
