‘KISR deal unfulfilled’

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 17: The Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) intends to take to task the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) to preserve its rights, explaining that KISR has not completed all contract work for an experimental study to reduce the high levels of water and reuse this water in the suburbs of Jaber Al-Ahmad and Qairawan.

The value of the contract was 922,200 dinars valid for 24 months and was signed in 2011.

The sources explained the ministry extended the contract several times after the end of its original period due to the presence of some obstacles and observations, but KISR did not complete the remaining work, and called on the supervisory authorities, including the Audit Bureau, to look into the matter since the ministry made attempts several times to complete the research.

The ministry is filing for delay to the tune of 92,000 dinars – 10 percent of the total contract, but the ministry did not do so in contravention of Article 14 of the terms of the contract. The sources explained that the failure to fully benefit from the project.
