SANTIAGO, Chile, (Agencies): King Mohammed VI of Morocco sent a warm congratulatory message to the Moroccan under-20 national football team following their victory at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.

In his message, the King stated:

"We have followed with great joy and pride your heroic journey, culminating in your well-deserved triumph at the FIFA U-20 World Cup (Chile 2025)."

"It is a source of immense pride to extend our heartfelt congratulations on this historic achievement, the first of its kind in Moroccan football history."

"We commend your sporting excellence, born from your self-confidence, strong belief in your abilities, teamwork, and professional play throughout the tournament, which brought honor to your country and the African continent."

The Moroccan U-20 team claimed the World Cup title with a 2-0 victory over Argentina in the final at Estadio Nacional, Chile, achieving a historic milestone for Morocco and the Arab world.

This accomplishment reflects the strategic sports vision of King Mohammed VI. Since the 2008 National Sports Forums, His Majesty has championed sports as a key driver for human, social, and regional development.

The Mohammed VI Football Academy, launched in 2010, embodies this vision by focusing on professional training and development. Notably, five players from the victorious U-20 squad—Yassir Zuberi, Othman Konton, Fouad Zahwani, Houssam Al-Sadiq, and Yassine Khalifi—are graduates of the academy, highlighting its role in nurturing Morocco’s footballing talent.

Striker Yassir Zabrini scored twice as Morocco won its first U-20 World Cup title with a 2-0 victory over Argentina.

Zabrini scored in the 12th and 29th minutes of the final to help Morocco become the first African nation to win the U-20 title since Ghana in 2009.

Morocco topped its group against Spain, Brazil, and Mexico and then advanced over South Korea, the United States, and France in the knockout stages.

It was the first loss in the tournament for Argentina, which was aiming for its seventh title.

Argentina reached the final despite missing its two best players in this age group, Bayer Leverkusen’s Claudio Echeverri and Real Madrid´s Franco Mastantuono.
