KING Abdulaziz bin Saud firmly believed in the Arabian Peninsula’s potential to become a powerful force in the Arab world and a prominent player on the international stage when he embarked on the project of unification.
Upon completing the unification process in 1932, he recognized the sacrifices of his fellow countrymen, famously declaring, “I will make you a great people, and you will enjoy a luxury far greater than that known to your ancestors.”
He dedicated himself to accomplishing this vision, and subsequent events proved his motivations to be sound.
The leaders of Saudi Arabia followed the path set by the founding king, starting with his saying, “My family and I are soldiers of Allah, striving for the good of Muslims.”
To emphasize his commitment, he said, “I am not one to speak without thought; I am a man of action, and I mean what I say.”
Along the way, he articulated the third principle that he deemed necessary for his people, “We welcome anyone who finds fault or criticism in us and points it out to us. Our response will be, ‘Blessed are those who point out my faults to me”. This is because I want my relationship with my people to remain close at all times, as this is likely to satisfy their desires.”
This great country has remained true to the strategic path laid out by its founder, without stopping at the edges of the past or dwelling on past glories but actively pursuing modernization, with each stage bringing both positives and challenges.
As the saying goes in politics, every century, Allah sends someone to rejuvenate, develop, and enhance a nation’s capabilities, grounded in a solid legacy. This relies on the people’s confidence that all actions taken are for the greater stability and well-being of the nation.
In the realm of state administration, this leader is referred to as the man of the second renaissance and the new founder. He ensures that the country continues to grow in strength, even as it may face periods of decline. During these times, a leader emerges to renew its vigor, invigorating the youth to restore institutions, address gaps, and tackle weaknesses.
This applies to all nations, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which has rejuvenated its spirit over the past nine years under the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz. He has faith in his people’s ability to achieve accomplishments swiftly but without haste.
When we examine this experience, we see Saudi Arabia following the path laid out by its founding king, driven by a modern renaissance inspired by that vision. King Salman bin Abdulaziz expressed this commitment when he said, “One of Allah’s blessings on this country and its people is that wealth exists to serve it.”
He further stated, “I always repeat: blessed are those who point out my faults to me. If you or my fellow citizens see anything that serves your religion first and foremost, and your country, the country of the Two Holy Mosques, of which we are all servants, then you are welcome. I reiterate, our doors are open, our phones are open, and our ears are attentive to every citizen.”
In this context, Saudi Arabia continues to develop and thrive under the leadership of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who recognizes the value of what the fathers and grandfathers built for the benefit of the country. He believes in the resilience of the Saudi people, stating, “I live among great people, and the determination of the Saudis is like Mount Tuwaiq” (which is a towering mountain on the outskirts of Riyadh).
He is right about this. The renaissance that Saudi Arabia is experiencing today at all levels is a testament to great people and wise leadership. When we assert that we are living in an era of renewal and the second foundation of Saudi Arabia, we are not exaggerating.
The flags are rising once again, illuminating all aspects of society. Saudi Arabia has become the talk of the world, with its leadership serving as a model for determination, integrity, and effective governance. Saudi Arabia is committed to development that benefits its future, whether in industry, the economy, or social modernization, and it stands strong in all international forums.
