KUWAIT CITY, Feb 3: The Ministry of Education disclosed on behalf of its Minister Bader Al-Eissa that licenses to start and operate kindergartens are now strictly issued to official teachers only. The minister asserted that strict regulations governing the operation of a kindergarten is needed, and for that reason the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Haytham Al-Athri has been tasked to lead the committee in charge of composing a work plan and a dedicated law for kindergartens only.
The minister stated “we shall not allow the purchasing of licenses,” especially now that the kindergarten sector is under the Ministry of Education and not the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor.
Furthermore, the minister disclosed that the next educational year will start after Eid Al-Adha in order to decrease the pressure on parents when it comes to starting a new school year. He said that the ministry has issued an amendment to decree 1 regarding the 2016/2017 school year, making the starting date for those employed in schools Sept 18, Sept 22 for kindergarten and first and second year elementary, Sept 22 for the rest, while middle school and high school start on Sept 25.
