KUWAIT CITY, Feb 7: The Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) has officially announced the commencement of applications for the prestigious Kuwait Prize for the year 2024. Researchers from Kuwait and across the Arab countries are invited to submit their applications for consideration. The Kuwait Prize, established in 1979, is awarded annually by the foundation in four distinct fields, with each prize valued at 40 thousand dinars.

In a press statement released on Wednesday, KFAS emphasized that the award was initiated in alignment with the directives of the country’s leadership to honor outstanding Kuwaiti and Arab scientists who have made significant contributions to their respective fields of research.

The Kuwait Prize, renowned as one of the most esteemed awards in the Arab and regional spheres, is designed to foster the growth of science, technology, and innovation. It aims to incentivize researchers, bolster scientific output, and propel the development process across the Arab world. The deadline for submissions is set for May 31st.

The prize categories encompass a broad spectrum of disciplines. The first category, Basic Sciences, encompasses areas such as cellular and molecular biology, genetics, immunology, and biochemistry, among others. The second category, Applied Sciences, focuses on engineering sciences, covering mechanical, chemical, electrical, and civil engineering, among others.

Economic and Social Sciences constitute the third category, delving into fields like business administration, finance, marketing, and economics. Lastly, the Human Sciences, Arts, and Literature category encompasses studies on the history of civilizations, human thought, and cultural heritage, including Islamic civilization and the history of science and philosophy.
