KD 9.6 million revenue earned from domestic worker and family visa fees

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 14: According to official data released by the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI), the state’s general budget for the current fiscal year 2020/2021 will generate KD 9.6 million as revenues from expatriates’ residency fees, specifically from the issuance of domestic workers’ visas and family visas, reports Al-Rai daily.

The total fees expected to be collected is estimated to be KD 3.35 million from the residency fees for domestic workers who reside in the country under article 20 visa, and KD 6.25 million from the fees for family visas, which are the fees collected from expatriates for the residencies of their wives, children, and relatives under article 22 visa.

The PACI data reveal that the number of domestic workers is 744,200, and about 92 percent of them are of four nationalities – 47.4 percent with Indian nationality, 21.4 percent with Filipino, 12 percent with Bangladeshi, and 10.9 percent with Sri Lankan nationality.
