KD 500 Bail and Good Conduct Pledge for Lawyer in Insult Case

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 12: The Misdemeanor Court has decided to refrain from pronouncing a penalty against a well-known lawyer accused of insulting a police officer, on the condition that he maintain good conduct for six months and post a bail of KD 500. The court also referred the related civil case to the competent court for further proceedings.

The defendant had been referred to trial after the Public Prosecution charged him with insulting the chief investigator of a police station through videos and photos he posted on his Snapchat account in 2023.

Lawyer Nawaf Al-Wahib, representing the complainant, stated that the accused’s actions constituted an insult and humiliation that undermined the dignity and reputation of his client as a public employee. He added that the legal elements of the offense were fully met and that the charges had been proven.

Al-Wahib further explained that the court’s decision to refrain from issuing a penalty still amounts to a legal conviction against the defendant. He affirmed his intention to pursue civil action to seek compensation for the moral and professional damages suffered by his client.
