KUWAIT CITY, Sept 20: According to informed sources, the budget of the Secretariat General of the Council of Ministers for the current fiscal year include financial appropriations estimated at six million and 900 thousand dinars allocated for spending on the implementation of the framework agreement for the strategic partnership between the government of Kuwait and the global company Google Cloud.
According to data from the Ministry of Finance, the implementation of the agreement will extend for seven years at a total cost of KD 306 million. This agreement will enable the government to benefit from this innovative technology in data analysis, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and achieve digital transformation, which is one of the most important priorities for the coming years. Therefore, the relevant government agencies are seeking to complete their procedures in this regard.
The agreement will also enable the government to create new job opportunities for Kuwaiti youth and benefit from the agreement in the fields of health care, education, disaster management and recovery, smart cities, and others. The company will launch a training program through which the government aims to enhance the skills of more than 5,000 Kuwaiti citizens, students and workers in the public and private sectors in the field of digital technologies, advanced data analysis, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and information security solutions.
It is noteworthy that the Direct Investment Promotion Authority, the Central Agency for Information Technology, and the Communications and Information Technology Authority earned an achievement in cooperation, which resulted in the intention of the international company Google Cloud to open an office in Kuwait and invest in establishing its own cloud region inside Kuwait in a way that supports government agencies in terms of digital infrastructure and managing digital business tasks efficiently and store them securely.
