IZMIT, Turkey, Aug  27: Kazma and Sulaibikhat handball teams are returning home today after wrapping up their overseas training camps. Kazma concluded its camp in Izmit, Turkey, while Sulaibikhat completed its preparations in Bosnia.

Both teams are gearing up for the new season’s competitions, most notably the 40th Arab Club Handball Championship for League and Cup Winners, set to be hosted in Kuwait from September 12 to 22. The tournament will feature clubs including host Kuwait Club, Egypt’s Ahly Bank, Iraq’s Al-Hashd Al-Riyadhi, and Syria’s Talia, Nawaeir, and Shabab, along with Ahly Qatar and Qatar SC.

Kazma has strengthened its squad with Slovenian player Labaine Ganos, joining Tunisian duo Anwar bin Abdullah and Mohamed Farad, under the guidance of Serbian coach Bozo. Meanwhile, Sulaibikhat, coached by Kuwaiti Waleed Salmeen, signed French-Algerian player Nouri bin Halima and Portuguese Gonzalo Ribeiro, with efforts underway to add a third professional.

It is worth noting that Kuwait Club, champion of the last two editions, will be aiming for a third consecutive crown. They defeated Egypt’s Zamalek in the 2023 final held in Dammam and beat Salmiya in last year’s final in Kuwait. The team is determined to capitalize on home advantage and strong preparations to secure a historic treble.

On his part, Hussein Sioan, team manager of Sulaibikhat, praised the Bosnia camp and the players’ discipline in following the technical and administrative staff’s instructions. He also expressed gratitude to the club’s board for their support and for arranging such an important camp ahead of the Arab challenge.
