The Kuwait Association for Cancer Awareness (KAN) has launched new specialized courses for primary care physicians, dentists, and nursing staff.

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 30, (Agencies): The Kuwait Association for Cancer Awareness (KAN) has launched new specialized courses for primary care physicians, dentists, and nursing staff. Dr. Khalid Al-Saleh, the Chairman of the National Cancer Awareness Campaign, announced the commencement of these courses in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, starting from mid-October until mid-November. The primary goal of these courses is to train primary care physicians, dentists, and nursing staff in effective communication skills with cancer patients and their families.

Dr. Khalid Al-Saleh disclosed that 1,343 dentists have been trained in early oral cancer detection, alongside 1,439 primary care physicians and 2,551 nursing staff members so far. These training programs are in line with KAN's ongoing commitment to cancer awareness, with a particular focus on providing specialized courses for dentists regarding visual examination for oral tumors. Dr. Al-Saleh emphasized the positive results achieved through these training programs.

Furthermore, the KAN campaign is dedicated to training nursing staff in communication skills with patients, particularly those dealing with cancer. An integrated program has been developed and delivered by oncology specialists to provide trainees with a comprehensive understanding of cancer, its stages, its prevalence in Kuwait and globally, diagnostic methods, treatment, prevention, early detection, and recovery rates.

Dr. Khalid Al-Saleh underscored the importance of continuing to offer training courses for primary care physicians on early detection of tumor warning signs. This plays a crucial role in diagnosing tumors in their early stages, contributing to higher recovery rates. He expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Health for their commitment to training their personnel, enabling them to enhance their knowledge and acquire skills and expertise that benefit their service to patients, aligning with the shared goal of promoting patient well-being.
