KUWAIT CITY, April 15: Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department have arrested a Jordanian man shortly before he was about to leave the country through the Kuwait International Airport after impersonating police and robbing an Indian, reports Al-Rai daily.
The daily said the Indian reported to the security men that he was hit in the face by the suspect causing him serious injuries that needed a surgery and submitted a medical report substantiating his claim. When asked how he got injured, he claimed he was driving in one of the areas of Kuwait and the suspect stopped him and searched him and the vehicle and took money from him and when the latter asked the ‘detective’ for his identification, he was reportedly punched hard in the face which rendered him unconscious and woke up the next day on a hospital bed.
Securitymen were on the lookout for the suspect and all border points had been alerted. The daily added, immigration officers at the airport suspected the man and referred him to the Criminal Investigations Department and when he was confronted with the charge he denied but he was recognized by the victim in a legal lineup. According to a security source, the suspect has provided police information about a partner who took the share of the loot after selling the stolen stuff. Police are looking for the man.
