Municipality workers removing old tyres dumped in an open area.

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 19: The joint committee which was formed to follow up the ‘condition’ of the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area said the authorities were able to arrest 175 people for violating work conditions and that 76 of them have been deported within one month, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting informed sources.

The same sources said during the ongoing security checks the concerned official have issued citations 172 against people they called ‘hawkers’. The sources indicated that the subcommittee for controlling violations in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area closed 388 unlicensed stores between Nov 15 and Dec 15, 2019.

The sources added the Farwaniya Municipality branch participated in the committee work its cleanliness, road works, auditing and follow-up services departments in addition to the department which is in charge of removing encroachments from government land. Also taking part were the engineering, audit and follow-up department which helped clear the area of waste such as construction material, scrap, used furniture and damaged tyres.
