KUWAIT CITY, Nov 6: The Italian Military Attaché in Kuwait, Colonel Michele Rega, affirmed that relations between Italy and Kuwait represent a firmly established model of friendship and cooperation built on trust and mutual respect. He noted that ties between the two countries grow stronger year after year in various political, military, cultural, and economic fields.
Colonel Rega made these remarks during a speech at the Italian Embassy in Kuwait's celebration of ltaly's National Unity and Armed Forces Day. The event, held on November 4th, was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense, Sheikh Abdullah Meshal Al Sabah , the Commander of the Air Force, Brigadier General Pilot Nasser Abdullah Al-Shureida, and a large number of ambassadors, military attachés, and members of the Italian forces in Kuwait. The day commemorates the end of World War I, the unification of Italy, and honors the sacrifices of its soldiers.
Colonel Rega stated that this day holds special significance for all Italians, reminding them of the values of peace, solidarity, and service to the nation—values that the Italian Armed Forces continue to uphold in their missions both within Italy and abroad. He added that these shared values unite the Italian forces with their Kuwaiti counterparts, who work side-by-side to enhance security and stability in the region.
The military attaché expressed his deep appreciation to the State of Kuwait, the Ministry of Defense, and the Kuwaiti Armed Forces Brig. Gen. Nasser Al Shereeda. for their continued support and excellent cooperation with the Italian forces deployed at Ali Al Salem Air Base and Camp Arifjan. He commended the warm welcome and generous hospitality extended to the members of the Italian mission in Kuwait.
He affirmed that the Italian military personnel are proud to serve alongside their Kuwaiti colleagues and partners in the international coalition, as part of a joint effort to enhance security and peace in a region of great strategic importance. He added that Italy remains committed to this partnership.
Colonel Rega noted that cooperation between the two countries extends beyond the military sphere to include industry, technology, and training. He explained that Italian expertise in defense and innovation is globally recognized and can play a vital role in achieving Kuwait's 2035 vision for development and modernization, opening new horizons for joint cooperation.
In closing, the military attaché expressed his deep gratitude to all the Italian and Kuwaiti supporters and sponsors who contributed to the success of the celebration, praising the professionalism of the staff of the Italian Embassy and the office of the military attaché, and also thanking the Regency Hotel for its hospitality.
