From fashion and furniture to art, music, and culinary delights, a week-long series of fairs, exhibitions, and live performances will showcase the best of Italian design, while fostering cultural exchange and collaboration between Italy and Kuwait.

Italian creativity is set to take center stage in Kuwait as Ambassador HE Lorenzo Morini unveils an exciting lineup of events for Italian Design Day, coinciding with Italy’s National Day (19th Oct to 27th Oct). From fashion and furniture to art, music, and culinary delights, a week-long series of fairs, exhibitions, and live performances will showcase the best of Italian design, while fostering cultural exchange and collaboration between Italy and Kuwait.

In his press conference, HE Lorenzo Morini stated, "We are pleased to meet once again on this special occasion, coinciding with the celebrations around Italy’s National Day. Today, I would like to announce a series of exciting initiatives that we will be organizing in the coming days as part of the Italian Design Day.

"Italian Design Day is an annual celebration held around the world during the second half of October, although the exact dates may vary from country to country. It serves as a global platform to showcase the essence of Italian creativity — a reflection of our innovation and artistry in various fields.

"Here in Kuwait, Italian products and creativity are already well appreciated — from fashion, furniture, and jewelry to food, art, and music. This year, however, we have decided to take a new and more dynamic approach. Instead of hosting a single event, we will present a series of diverse cultural and artistic programs across multiple venues, in collaboration with several esteemed Kuwaiti partners.

"We have partnered with the Giavenna Board, the Contemporary Art Platform (CAP), the Dar Al-Fajr Conference Center, and the American Museum. Together, we aim to reach a wide audience through events that highlight Italian excellence in design, culture, and performance.

"The celebrations will officially begin on Sunday, October 19, with the opening of an Italian Fair at The Avenues Mall. In the Grand Avenues area, visitors will experience a vibrant display of Italian brands and craftsmanship. The fair will feature products from diverse sectors — fashion, food, furniture, medical equipment, and perfumes — as well as iconic Italian cars such as Ferrari, Maserati, and Vespa. The fair will run throughout the week, from Sunday to Saturday.

"During the weekend, visitors to The Avenues will also enjoy live cultural performances. A traditional Italian group, Sbandieratori di Bubbio, will perform a captivating flag-waving show on September 24 and 25. This medieval performance, inspired by historical Italian festivals such as the Palio di Siena, features participants dressed in period costumes, waving colorful guild and family flags accompanied by traditional music.

"Another key highlight will take place on October 19, when a classical music concert will be held at the Americana Museum. Initially planned for Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyyah, the concert has been relocated due to venue constraints. The program will feature timeless compositions from world-famous films such as The Godfather, Once Upon a Time in America, and Cinema Paradiso, among others — all composed by legendary Italian maestros like Ennio Morricone.

"What makes this event particularly special is its collaborative spirit: Italian and Kuwaiti musicians will perform together, symbolizing cultural unity and artistic harmony between Italy and Kuwait.

"On October 21, the Contemporary Art Platform (CAP) will host an art exhibition titled "A Gaze Elsewhere", featuring diorama-style artworks depicting landscapes, cities, cars, and animals in unique artistic perspectives. The inauguration of this exhibition will be followed by a live jazz concert "It's Time" by G. Bunoasorte ensemble

"Throughout the same week, will also inaugurate a new Italian design store in collaboration with local partners. Renowned Italian designers will deliver lectures at Kuwait University and CAP, fostering dialogue and creative exchange between Italian and Kuwaiti architects and designers.

"Italian Design Day embodies the philosophy that design is not limited to furniture or fashion — it extends to every sphere of creativity. In Italy, even food is considered a form of design, as every recipe begins with imagination and artistry.

"Through these events, we hope to further strengthen cultural and artistic ties between Italy and Kuwait and share with the public the timeless beauty and innovation of Italian design.
