BAGHDAD, Feb 8: Iraq’s military on Tuesday said it carried out air strikes targeting so-called Islamic State fighters in Mosul’s Nineveh province in northern Iraq, killing seven senior militants. The airstrikes were conducted with “precision” against a cave used as shelter by IS militants, said an Iraqi military statement, describing the operation as a “significant gain.” In a similar operation, three IS fighters found to be involved in “terrorist activities,” were rounded up in the northern Kirkuk province, added the statement. The activities include the “terror financing” and the possession of materials used to make explosives, added the statement. (KUNA)
