Iranian Ambassador thanks Kuwait for support
Ambassadors gather to condemn attacks and praise Kuwait’s humanitarian efforts

KUWAIT CITY, June 30: Iranian Ambassador to Kuwait Mohammad Totonji expressed his deep gratitude to Kuwait, its leadership, government and people for the humanitarian stance in condemning the recent Zionist attack on his country, which left hundreds of martyrs and wounded, including children, women and academics. In a press statement on the sidelines of the opening of the condolence book at the embassy, Totonji stressed that “Iran withstood simultaneous attacks by powers possessing nuclear weapons and advanced technology. It exercised its legitimate right to self-defense, while respecting the sovereignty of neighboring countries.”

He affirmed that the Iranian people rallied around their leadership and thwarted attempts to subjugate them. He also praised the position of the Kuwaiti Foreign Affairs Minister, as well as the officials and ambassadors who reached out and attended the event to offer condolences. He concluded that “the positions of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries have been positive, especially that of Kuwait. We thank the Minister of Foreign Affairs for his message. We appreciate the presence of the Kuwaiti people, officials and ambassadors today. Such presence is remarkable and deeply appreciated.”

On the other hand, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of Tajikistan Dr. Zubaydullah Zubaydov offered his deepest condolences and sympathy for the martyrdom of a group of military leaders, scholars and hundreds of civilians. He affirmed the Tajik people’s support for Iran in its painful tragedy, praying for mercy for the martyrs and a speedy recovery for the wounded. Iraqi Ambassador Al-Manhal Al-Safi confirmed his country’s full solidarity with Iran in confronting the repeated attacks, describing them as “brutal.”

He stated “we are here today to offer our condolences for the victims and martyrs of the brutal Zionist aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Iraqi people wish the Iranian people peace and a united and strong exit from this crisis.” He then talked about the humanitarian efforts exerted by the State of Kuwait to facilitate the passage of Iraqi citizens stranded abroad due to the airspace closure. He asserted “this had a positive impact on the stranded families.”

He also praised the role of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior, which granted more than 3,500 entry visas within a short period. He extended his special thanks to First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousuf, Undersecretary of the ministry Lieutenant General Ali Al- Adwani and all employees at the ministry; emphasizing that Kuwait’s brotherly and humanitarian stances are not surprising. He revealed that Iraq has filed an official complaint at the United Nations Security Council regarding the airspace violations. He said his country is monitoring these developments legally and diplomatically, in coordination with neighboring countries and the international community. He said “in such crises, we stand united with the GCC countries. Our position is unified in condemning the attacks that threaten the security and stability of the region. This reflects the spirit of joint Gulf cooperation.” He added the meeting of the Joint Technical and Legal Committee with Kuwait regarding the demarcation of maritime borders will be held soon, indicating the meeting was postponed due to current developments in the region.
