NEW DELHI, July 6: Indian authorities said on Monday that coronavirus cases in the country rose to 697,413 to become the third worst hit nation after the US and Brazil.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in its latest update that 425 patients succumbed to the deadly pandemic in the last 24 hours taking the total number of COVID-19 deaths in the country to 19,693.


Some 24,248 people were tested positive in one day, the ministry said. There are 253287 active cases and 424,433 people have recovered so far.
Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, New Delhi, Telangana, Karnataka, Assam and Bihar are among the states contributing most of the cases.


The government has asked people, governments and local authorities to take all necessary precautions as the nation entered into the second phase of unlock adding guidelines in the containment zones should be followed strictly.(KUNA)
