Few diplomats leave a lasting impression not only through their official work but also through the friendships they build and the respect they earn along the way. As Kuwait bids farewell to H.E. Hans-Christian Freiherr von Reibnitz, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the State of Kuwait, and his dear wife, Ina Freifrau von Reibnitz, many of us reflect on a remarkable chapter arked by professionalism, friendship, and genuine engagement with the country they came to call home.

The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kuwait Hans-Christian Freiherr von Reibnitz

Ambassador von Reibnitz brought with him 37 years of diplomatic experience, serving his country with distinction across different regions and assignments around the world. That wealth of experience was evident in his calm leadership, thoughtful approach, and deep understanding of international affairs.

Throughout his time in Kuwait, he worked tirelessly to strengthen the longstanding relationship between Kuwait and Germany, contributing to closer cooperation in diplomacy, trade, culture, education, and many other areas of mutual interest. It was also during his tenure that Kuwait and Germany celebrated the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations, a significant milestone that highlighted the strength and depth of the partnership between our two friendly nations. Yet what many will remember most is not simply his impressive career, but the manner in which he carried himself. He approached people with humility, kindness, and sincerity.

Whether at an official event, a cultural gathering, or a simple conversation among friends, he always made others feel welcomed and respected. These qualities earned him the admiration of colleagues, members of the iplomatic corps, and countless friends throughout Kuwait. Alongside him stood his dear wife, Ina, whose warmth, grace, and kindness complemented his service beautifully. Together, they formed a remarkable team. Her presence at countless community, cultural, and diplomatic events helped strengthen the bonds of friendship that exist between people of different backgrounds and nationalities. Those who had the pleasure of knowing her will remember her generosity, elegance, and genuine friendliness.

One of the greatest strengths of any diplomatic couple is their ability to build bridges between people and cultures. Ambassador von Reibnitz and Ina achieved this with ease and authenticity. They embraced Kuwait with respect and affection, and in return earned the friendship and appreciation of many. Their contributions extended beyond official duties and helped foster a spirit of understanding and goodwill between our two nations
