Illegal Camps Face Removal as Minister Conducts Field Inspection

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 27: Minister of State for Municipal Affairs, Abdul Latif Al-Mishari, conducted a field inspection on Wednesday to review areas in the southern region of the country where quarter camps are prohibited. During the tour, authorities recorded eight violations against a street vendor (butcher), removed seven mobile food trucks, and issued 20 warnings for the removal of unauthorized camps.

Meanwhile, Kuwait Municipality has announced that the official camping season will end on March 15 and is urging camp owners to voluntarily remove their camps before this deadline. In line with this, the Spring Camps Committee will meet next Sunday to discuss field teams' preparations for removing camps that fail to comply with the deadline. Authorities emphasized that camping will not be permitted in the desert after March 15, 2024. Camp owners are also required to clean their sites and adhere to regulations to avoid legal consequences.

Additionally, the municipality stated that obtaining approval from the Environment Public Authority—confirming that the site is clean and free from environmental damage—is a mandatory requirement for recovering the insurance deposit of 100 Kuwaiti dinars. Camp owners must submit a request to the municipality for reimbursement. The Public Relations Department of Kuwait Municipality has launched an awareness campaign through various media and social media platforms, reminding camp license holders of their responsibility to dismantle their camps at their own expense and clean the site to avoid penalties or violations.
