KUWAIT CITY, Jan 29: Sources from the Hajj and Umrah offices in Kuwait revealed an increase in the demand from expatriates for Umrah trips by land, after a decision was issued to allow expatriates to perform Umrah by land, reports Al-Anba daily. These offices are competing to put up a set of offers and packages to take advantage of the current period, which coincides with the mid-year school holiday and improved weather conditions. During a tour conducted by the daily, a number of officials from Umrah offices said, “The return of Umrah by land came after it was suspended for a long time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Umrah trip by land takes ten days, which includes spending about six nights in Makkah and two nights in Madinah. The cost of the trip starts at KD 135, reaches KD 160 per person in a double room, and KD 195 for a person in a single room. The cost may increase if the options for the pilgrim are different from those specified by the company, which will cover its cost according to the personal needs”. In this regard, experts revealed that the price of the Umrah package by land includes only the cost of the visa and does not include meals or the required PCR tests.
They said the recent decision of the Council of Ministers to end the quarantine for vaccinated arriving passengers, in the event that a PCR test is conducted immediately after arrival, will contribute to raising the demand for Umrah reservations, because the decision provides facilities that enable returnees to Kuwait to quickly end the quarantine and carry out their daily tasks.
