KUWAIT CITY, Nov 19: The ex-Prime Minister, His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak, affirmed that attempting to sway the judiciary through intimidation or inducement constitutes a breach of the fundamental elements of the state’s structure. The judiciary, entrusted with upholding the law, is pivotal to the foundation of a just governance.

In a statement released yesterday, His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak emphasized the significance of a noble verse, stating, “When you received it with your tongues and said with your mouths that of which you had no knowledge, and you thought it was insignificant, but in the sight of God, it is great.” He underscored the essential principle that true kingship and stability can only be achieved by upholding the law, giving precedence to the old over the young. In this context, he added that anything lacking substance or value eventually fades away in its own folly.

He expressed, “In deference to the esteemed position of His Highness the Amir, may God protect him and grant him health, we have endured numerous challenges. Our steadfast commitment to the directives of the state’s supreme political leadership has been unwavering. We have upheld our oath to keep confidential any matters pertaining to the security, stability, and sovereignty of the nation, as outlined in the letters from His Highness, the Supreme Commander. The judiciary has issued a final ruling on the ‘Army Fund’ case, and we have exercised prudence by refraining from discussing the case in the media and on social platforms. This precaution is taken to avoid any potential influence on the course of the ruling.”

His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak further stated, “We were disheartened by the news circulated in the media yesterday, detailing a desperate effort to publicize a car associated with Counselor Sultan Nouh Buresli in front of his residence. This attempt was made to connect it with the forthcoming ruling that the Counselor is set to deliver in his role as the head of the First Criminal Circuit today, Sunday, the 19th of this month, in an apparent bid to impact the outcome. It’s important to note that the ruling is unfavorable.”

He went on to say, “The complete details of this incident are now within the jurisdiction of the judiciary and under the supervision of the Ministry of the Interior, a trusted institution. Rather than engaging with these falsehoods and disgraceful actions, we choose to uphold the ethical principles instilled in us, embodying the utmost values of justice, truth, and humanity. This commitment is in place to safeguard the well-being of Kuwait.”

He stated, “Regarding the lawsuit, and considering the appeal filed due to the perceived bias in the ruling issued by the Court of Ministers, along with the serious legal violations it entails, I have instructed my legal team to address it in accordance with the law and constitutional articles. The defense team has promptly responded to the judicial body handling the case, highlighting the infringement of its jurisdiction and incompetence to hear this matter. I am confident that the Court of Cassation, being a court of law, will independently uphold these principles, demonstrating respect for the judicial institution. We anticipate and hope for the enforcement of legal provisions.”

His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak concluded his statement with the following remarks: “In closing, our initial silence in defending our rights should not be misconstrued as a sign of incapacity or weakness on our part. It is a testament to our commitment, first to our oath before God and then to the deep respect we hold for the esteemed positions of His Highness the Amir, His Highness the faithful Crown Prince, and the rule of law. Starting today, we will not shy away from addressing any attempts to tarnish our reputation. May God safeguard Kuwait and its people under the guardianship of His Highness the Amir and His Highness the Crown Prince, may they be protected and preserved.”
