Here's What Kuwait's Public Authority for Manpower Says About Employers' and Workers' Labour Rights

KUWAIT CITY, July 27:  Kuwait's Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) has issued a new workplace safety advisory reminding employers and workers of their rights and responsibilities under the country's Labour Law, emphasizing that occupational safety is a shared responsibility.

Under the "Know Your Rights" campaign on occupational safety and professional conduct, PAM said employers have the right to require workers to comply with workplace safety instructions, properly use protective equipment, and take reasonable measures to safeguard themselves, their colleagues, and the workplace.

The advisory cites Article 87 of the Labour Law, which outlines workers' obligation to follow safety procedures and use protective equipment responsibly.

PAM also stressed that workers have the right to perform their duties in a safe and healthy working environment. According to Articles 83 and 86 of the Labour Law, employers are required to provide all necessary safety and protective equipment free of charge to employees.

In addition, the authority reminded employers of their legal obligation under Article 88 of the Labour Law to insure workers against occupational injuries and work-related diseases in accordance with the law.

Concluding the advisory, PAM underscored that workplace safety depends on the commitment of both employers and employees.

"Safety is a shared responsibility—it begins with commitment and ends with protection," the authority said, urging all workplaces to uphold occupational health and safety standards to protect lives and promote a safe working environment.
