KUWAIT CITY, Sept 16: The Ministry of Health announced today, Monday, the readiness of 928 school clinics across Kuwait, including 18 new clinics established this year to coincide with the opening of new schools in the capital, Farwaniya, Jahra, and Ahmadi health areas.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health, told the Kuwait News Agency that the ministry has prioritized equipping these clinics with the latest medical tools and essential treatments. This ensures that students receive necessary healthcare, supervised by 1,043 specialized medical and nursing professionals across schools in various governorates to safeguard the health and safety of students.
Dr. Al-Sanad emphasized the importance of students maintaining a consistent sleep schedule, recommending at least eight hours of sleep per night to enhance concentration and energy levels. He also urged parents to provide their children with balanced meals rich in fruits, vegetables, proteins, and whole grains to ensure proper energy and nutrient intake during school hours.
He highlighted the importance of reviewing school bags regularly to ensure they are free from unnecessary items that could increase their weight, potentially causing strain on students. Additionally, he encouraged parents to motivate their children to engage in daily physical activity, whether through school sports or outdoor activities, to promote overall health and vitality.
Dr. Al-Sanad also addressed the need for regulating the use of electronic devices, suggesting specific time limits for their use. He stressed the importance of balancing digital activities with physical ones and advised parents to communicate regularly with their children to address any concerns or problems. He encouraged collaboration with teachers and specialists whenever additional support is needed.
Regarding traffic safety, Dr. Al-Sanad urged adherence to speed limits to prevent accidents and ensure safe travel to and from schools. He noted that residential areas could become congested as students cross streets, requiring drivers to exercise caution. Additionally, he advised parents to teach children to use pedestrian crossings and to always look both ways before crossing the street.
In conclusion, Dr. Al-Sanad praised the efforts of healthcare workers in school clinics and primary healthcare centers, expressing hope that the new academic year would be full of achievements and good health for all students and staff.
