Govt spending in 11 months down by 14.8 pc

KUWAIT CITY, March 24: The total actual expenditures of government institutions during 11 months of fiscal 2020/2021 decreased by 14.8 percent, at a value of 2.06 billion dinars compared to the same period for the last fiscal 2019/2020. The figure reads as 13.841 billion dinars at the end of February 2020 to 11.782 billion dinars at the end of February 2021, bringing the government’s spending rate to about 54.7 percent, compared to budget allocations of 21.555 billion dinars. According to the monthly follow-up report of the state’s financial management accounts for February, 2020/2021 witnessed a decline in the exchange rate compared to the same period last year, in which the ratio reached 61.5 percent, with a value of 13.841 billion dinars, compared to an appropriation of 22.5 billion dinars.

Culture
Through the analysis of expenditures for ministries and government departments at the level of jobs, the budget items were divided into seven main items: general public services, defense, public order and public safety affairs, economic affairs, environmental protection, housing and community facilities, health, religion, culture and entertainment, education, protection and social. The analysis of expenditures for ministries and government departments at the level of jobs showed that the government’s actual spending on economic affairs amounted to 1.022 billion dinars, with an exchange rate of 45.2 percent compared to the appropriation of 2.261 billion dinars. The economic affairs are divided into 6 main items: the first is economic and commercial affairs and general employment affairs in which the actual expenditure is 170.445 million dinars, an exchange rate of 55.3 percent, compared to 308.26 million dinars, the value of the appropriations.

Energy
The disbursement on the second item on fuel and energy amounted to about 508.771 million dinars, an exchange rate of 51.9 percent of the appropriations amounting to 974.35 million dinars, and the value of the transportation expenses amounted to about 319.02 million dinars, an exchange rate of 41.3 percent of the appropriation value of 772.08 million dinars. The government spent on the telecom item about 3.6 million dinars, at a rate of 2.6 percent of the appropriation value of 139.26 million dinars, and the disbursement on the item of other industries amounted to about 20.85 million dinars, a ratio of 33.6 percent of the appropriation amounting to 62.14 million dinars. The housing and community facilities item acquired the highest rate of exchange among budget items during the first ten months of the current fiscal year, at a rate of 77.6 percent and a value of 1.48 billion dinars, compared with appropriations of 1.9 billion dinars.
