‘Give credit to those who really deserve’

There is a strong relationship between the abundant money in the hands of young people and adolescents, and the spread of drugs. Wealthy societies are targeted by the biggest promoters of this scourge, and every unjustified government money that enters the accounts and pockets of citizens will contribute one way or another, to a greater spread of these toxins!

Ahmad-Al-Sarraf

It is clear from the terrifying and frightening increase in drug smuggling cases, which have been exposed recently, that the matter may have gotten out of control, to some extent, especially since what is arrested, as is well known, constitutes a small part of what goes unchecked.

Thank you very much for the tremendous efforts made by the men and women of the Ministry of Interior in limiting the spread of this deadly scourge, and some of them may sometimes, and often unintentionally, offend what is stated in some of the Ministry’s statements that thwarting the smuggling process took place under the instructions of His Excellency the Minister, as if the statement says that without his instructions these unknown heroes would not have done anything, and this underestimates their right. We therefore wish His Excellency, who has achieved so much so far through his hands, to seek to amend these old clichés, which may sometimes be misunderstood.

I also wish the Ministry of the Interior to follow a policy of reservations, and not to publicly promote the ministry’s new or integrated moves and plans in combating drugs, as this will prompt these smugglers, who are more intelligent and capable, to hedge against them, avoid them, and perhaps penetrate the security services to find out how they operate and from where. What is the point of announcing, for example, that the majority of drug shipments come by yachts and fishing boats?

Isn’t it better to tighten control over it, so that smuggling continues through it, instead of announcing the discovery of this method, so smugglers abandon it and resort to various other means of smuggling, such as mini-submarines, drones, and others?

The matter also requires the Ministry to inform all passengers of air, land and sea transport coming to Kuwait, and from specific countries, of the fatal fate of those caught in possession of any amount of drugs, whether for personal use or for trading in them. The statements of some of those who were arrested showed their ignorance. With our strict laws in this field, and some of them believed that the matter would not exceed a prison sentence for a few years, in exchange for the great wealth that awaits them afterwards, ‘if’ they get caught, or they succeeded in their plan.

The government and legislators who are striving to put more unnecessary cash in the hands of the good youth, either in the form of grants or salary increases, or dropping loans, seriously think about the consequences of the matter and its serious social harm. It is better to spend on raising the standard of living of the citizen, by improving all services.

There is no doubt that the sane person, who believes in the permanence of the state, desires to see a more beautiful and less corrupt country, and a better life, instead of receiving allowances and increases; no matter how generous these cash increases are, they will be lost if the current bad living, administrative and environmental situation continues as it is.
