KUWAIT CITY, Nov 15: The Basketball Association's Board of Directors has appointed German Peter Schumers to lead Kuwait national basketball team in the upcoming Arab Championship.

The championship is scheduled to take place in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, spanning from December 26 to January 6.

Schumers' selection follows a recommendation from the Training and National Teams Committee, considering his extensive experience in the region and, notably, in the Kuwaiti league. This decision is bolstered by his five years of coaching experience in Kuwait.

Dr. Abdulaziz Dhari, the Director of Teams, announced the initial team list selected by Coach Schumers for the tournament preparation. The list comprises 21 players from various clubs: Abdullah Tawfiq, Abdulmohsen Murtada, Saleh Al-Yousef, Nawaf Al-Anzi (Al-Qadsia), Ahmed Al-Balushi, Abdulaziz Al-Hamidi, Youssef Bourahma (Kazima), Abdullatif Ghanem, and Adel Al-Saeed (Al-Qurain). Others include Alexander Al-Ghais, Muhammad Adnan, Hamad Adnan, Imran Anbar, Mustafa Al-Rifai, Turki Hammoud, Sahu Al-Shammari, Abdul-Rahman Al-Shammari, Youssef Al-Hamdan (Kuwait), Hassan Burmeh, Ali Al-Hadhoud (Al-Arabi), and Youssef Al-Failakawi (Yarmouk).

Dhari stated that the national teams committee will release the preparation program for Kuwait in the coming period.
