German customs seizes $1.1 billion worth of cocaine (4.5 tons)

BERLIN Aug 2: German customs authorities have seized cocaine shipped from Uruguay worth 1.1 billion USD, total of 4.5 tons.

As per paper work of the container it was stated as consignment of soya beans, customs office in Hamburg on checking could only see a black sports bags and when they opened it up they found 4,200 packets of cocaine in 211 bags.

This is the biggest seizure of cocaine to date. Customs officer further stated that the drugs have been destroyed under strict secrecy and under security precaution. The consignment was seized two weeks ago.
