LOS ANGELES, Sept 28, (Agencies): Angelina Jolie has revealed the profound impact her children have had on her life and her journey towards healing following her divorce from Brad Pitt. In a recent interview with Vogue, the 48-year-old actress candidly discussed her close bond with her six children and the transformative experience of motherhood.

Jolie, who became a mother at the age of 26 when she adopted her first child, Maddox, now 22, in 2001, reflected on how her children became her anchor during challenging times. She expressed her deep gratitude for her six kids, emphasizing that they provided her with a powerful reason to persevere: “I was 26 when I became a mother. My entire life changed. Having children saved me – and taught me to be in this world differently. I think, recently, I would’ve gone under in a much darker way had I not wanted to live for them.”

The Maleficent star went on to describe the dynamics of her family, acknowledging her pride in her children, saying, “They’re better than me, because you want your children to be. Of course, I’m the mother, and hopefully that safe place for them and that stability. But I’m also the one that they laugh at – and I see them taking over so many different aspects of our family.”

In addition to her reflections on motherhood, Jolie touched upon her personal challenges over the years and the changes she’s made since her divorce from Pitt in 2016. She alluded to focusing on herself and selecting projects that don’t require extended shoots: “We had a lot of healing to do. We’re still finding our footing.” She also discussed her new fashion company, Atelier Jolie, as a therapeutic outlet for self-discovery and personal growth.

Since announcing their separation, Jolie and Pitt have been embroiled in a prolonged legal battle over child custody and property disputes. Jolie’s sale of her share of a French vineyard they co-owned led to legal tensions, with Pitt facing accusations of a “blatant money grab.”

Despite the challenges, in May 2021, Pitt was granted joint custody of their children, though a custody battle remains ongoing. Presently, Jolie has sole custody of their kids, while Pitt has visitation rights.

Jolie has maintained a private stance regarding her relationship with her ex, but she did make a rare comment about their decision to end their marriage in 2021. She emphasized her desire for her family, including their father, to heal and move forward together.

In the Vogue interview, the Mr. and Mrs. Smith star also discussed raising her children in the public eye, highlighting her laissez-faire approach to their clothing choices and public appearances: “I don’t tell the kids how to dress. Even when they were little, I just put things in front of them.” She emphasized the importance of allowing her children to make choices, even when it comes to dressing up for public events.
