KUWAIT CITY, Sep 28: The MOI's Investigation Department managed to arrest 4 expatriates who formed a gang to rob expatriates in the Shuwaikh Industrial Area, Mirqab, East and Salhiya.
A security source revealed that after the Investigation Department from the Capital received confidential information regarding multiple robberies in various areas of the Capital Governorate, a task force was established, and detectives were strategically deployed to locations where the crimes were likely to occur.
During one of the ambushes, officers witnessed an expatriate being forcibly robbed. The gang members were promptly arrested, and it was revealed that they were also expatriates who used physical force to carry out the robberies. They grabbed the victim, threw him to the ground, and robbed him of money and cell phones.
During an ambush set up for them by the Capital Investigation Department, they were arrested after fierce resistance and taken into custody. During the investigation, they confessed that they carry out robberies against Asian expatriates and are active during the weekend.
The source said that the gang admitted that they come from Mahboula, where they live, all the way to the city believing that committing crimes in places far from their homes would not allow the security services to catch them.
They added that they committed their crimes after midnight and chose expatriates with weak builds, where one of them would restrain him violently and steal the money and mobile phone he had in his possession, while the others ensured the area was clear and secure.
They said that they committed 7 such crimes during the past few weeks. The Investigations Department summoned several victims who recognized the perpetrators in a parade, these four expatriates are being referred to the Public Prosecution.
