KUWAIT CITY, July 29: The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) has issued a reminder to employees and employers about legal provisions governing working hours and overtime under Kuwait’s Labour Law.
As part of its Know Your Rights awareness campaign, PAM highlighted that workers cannot be employed for more than 8 hours per day or 48 hours per week, as per Kuwait's labour law regulations.
The authority said employees are entitled to a rest break if their working period exceeds five consecutive hours. Workers assigned overtime must also receive additional compensation as stipulated by law.
PAM stated that employers have the right to assign overtime when necessary, provided it is carried out within the limits set by labour regulations. Overtime hours must be properly documented, and employees must receive the compensation due.
The advisory cited Articles 64, 65 and 66 of the Kuwait Labour Law, which regulate working hours, rest periods, and overtime provisions.
PAM stressed that regulating working hours helps protect workers’ rights and contributes to maintaining workplace stability.
