Abigail Billy: The AI-powered robot assisting school principal in the UK.

LONDON, Oct 17, (Agencies): In a significant technological advancement, a prestigious secondary school in the UK has appointed a robot that utilizes artificial intelligence technology to assist the human school principal in various tasks. This remarkable robot, known as “Abigail Billy,” was specifically designed for this role.

Abigail Billy, an artificial intelligence-based robot, will support the human school principal, Tom Rogers, in a range of tasks related to school administration and helping students with diverse needs. The school that has employed this robot is “Cotsmoor School,” located in West Sussex, and it caters to both residential and day students, with annual fees ranging up to £32,000.

According to a report published by the British newspaper “The Telegraph,” this AI-based robot functions similarly to the popular “ChatGPT” language model, having been trained on extensive datasets to provide human-like responses. It was created with the assistance of AI developers to enhance the management of school operations and address the requirements of a diverse student body effectively.

Tom Rogers, the human school principal, shared his perspective on this innovative addition, saying, “The robot or ‘AI chatbot’ will assist me and other teachers in a variety of tasks, particularly in dealing with complex student issues.”

He added, “It’s reassuring to know that you don’t have to bother a human when you need advice or assistance. You don’t have to wait or worry about judgment.”

It is worth noting that AI-powered chatbots have gained popularity since the introduction of the “ChatGPT” program to the public in November of the previous year. While they have brought about a revolution in various work and life domains, these chatbots are far from deceptive. They are highly reliable, offering assistance and information accurately.

The addition of “Abigail Billy” to the education sector comes just months after the school also announced the appointment of a chatbot called “Jimmy Ray,” a moniker derived from “AI ChatBot.” Jimmy Ray, a highly trained AI assistant, is tasked with helping the school in implementing its artificial intelligence strategy and providing support to the school’s staff in various AI-related matters.

The school also hosted a free festival, open to the public, in September last year, aimed at raising awareness about the benefits of generative artificial intelligence and its applications in education.

This innovative step showcases the ongoing integration of artificial intelligence into various fields and highlights the potential for AI to enhance efficiency and support educational institutions and their students.
