MANILA, Philippines, Nov 13, (Agencies): A police major stationed in Batangas, along with three civilians, is now facing criminal charges related to the disappearance of beauty pageant candidate Catherine Camilon, as announced by the Philippine National Police (PNP) on November 13.

PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo revealed that a case of kidnapping and serious illegal detention has been referred to a local prosecutor’s office against Police Maj. Allan De Castro, civilian Jeffrey Magpantay, and two other unidentified individuals.

Despite two witnesses coming forward and claiming to have seen a bloodied body being carried out of a red car, there is still uncertainty about Camilon’s fate. Fajardo clarified, “Probably some of you might be asking why kidnapping and serious illegal detention were only filed. It’s because police have not seen anything, especially the corpus delicti to determine if she is still alive or not.” She added that additional charges may be filed as the investigation progresses.

Camilon was reported missing on October 12, and her friend mentioned that she was supposed to meet someone who turned out to be De Castro. Magpantay was identified by witnesses as one of the individuals seen transferring a bloodied body from a Nissan Juke, owned by the victim, to a red Honda CRV.

While the recovered Honda CRV was not linked to any past criminal activity according to background checks with the Land Transportation Office, forensics investigators collected hair strands and possible blood stains during processing.

These findings align with the testimony of the witnesses who approached the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) to provide insights into the incident. The ongoing investigation may lead to additional charges in the case.
