WASHINGTON, Feb 12 (KUNA) -- Social media giant Facebook said it has terminated a network of user accounts on the website and its affiliate Instagram for engaging in foreign or government interference on behalf of a government.
These networks operated several accounts with fake identities, Facebook said on Wednesday, adding it has shared the findings with other social media websites.
"We're constantly working to detect and stop this type of activity because we don't want our services to be used to manipulate people," it said in a statement.
The company in November said it had withdrawn the accounts of five billion fake users since 2019.
In a report on the precautions it takes to tackle the problem, Facebook revealed it prevents millions of daily attempts to launch fake accounts from around the world.
