KUWAIT CITY, June 19 : As part of intensified efforts to monitor the nation’s food supply and market stability, Director of the Commercial Control Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Faisal Al-Ansari, conducted a field inspection Wednesday morning in Shuwaikh’s Wholesale Street. The visit aimed to assess the availability of essential commodities and reinforce public confidence amid regional tensions.
Al-Ansari confirmed that food items, including water and canned goods, remain readily available, with vendors reporting stable demand and well-stocked warehouses. He emphasized that there is no cause for concern, citing normal consumption rates and continued cooperation between market players and government agencies.
Informed sources stated that the Ministry of Commerce is working in close coordination with the Ministry of Social Affairs to supervise food distribution at cooperative societies and strengthen inventory oversight. Additionally, water suppliers are preparing to pump extra quantities into the market in the coming days to further reassure consumers and bolster supply levels beyond previous benchmarks.
Commerce Ministry inspectors are on high alert, providing daily market availability and pricing reports directly to the Minister of Commerce. While no artificial price hikes have been observed so far, strict enforcement of regulations remains in place to deter any potential manipulation.
“There is no leniency when it comes to controlling the markets, and there is no fear of a food shortage,” a senior ministry official stated. He added that the ministry continues to implement proactive plans and daily inspections to safeguard Kuwait’s food security and maintain consumer confidence.
