Extra time scrapped for Arab Cup playoffs

DOHA, Oct 21: The organizing committee of the Arab Cup, set to be held in Qatar from December 1 to 18, has decided to cancel extra time in the playoff matches. If a match ends in a draw during regular time, the outcome will be determined directly by a penalty shootout.

The playoff matches are scheduled for November 25 and 26 in Doha and will feature the following encounters: Kuwait Club vs Mauritania, Oman vs Somalia, Bahrain vs Djibouti, Syria vs South Sudan, Palestine vs Libya, Lebanon vs Sudan, and Yemen vs Comoros.

The winners of these single-elimination playoff matches will advance to the group stage of the Arab Cup.
