KUWAIT CITY, May 12: An expatriate in his thirties was apprehended at Kuwait International Airport (Terminal 1) for attempting to smuggle hashish into the country. He has been transferred to the General Department for Drug Control and is expected to be referred to the Public Prosecution on charges of drug trafficking.

According to a security source, customs officers at the airport grew suspicious of the man due to his visibly anxious and erratic behavior, appearing confused and constantly looking around. Acting on these observations, an inspector escorted him to a private inspection room for a personal search and a detailed examination of his luggage. During the inspection, officers discovered two pieces of hashish concealed among his clothing.

In the initial investigation, the suspect reportedly claimed the hashish was intended as so-called "gifts" hashish—small quantities meant to be shared as gifts with friends. Following protocol, the Director of Air Customs notified the General Department for Drug Control, which dispatched officers to the airport. The narcotics and related evidence were officially documented and handed over per legal procedures.
