KUWAIT CITY, Nov 7: The Secretary General of Supreme Planning Council’s General Secretariat Khalid Mahdi says the expatriate manpower in Kuwait has reached 2.42 million, constituting 60 percent of the Kuwaiti population, as per the statistics of 2014, reports Al-Rai daily. During a press conference launched to present the initiative of ‘protection of health and safety at work locations’, Mahdi declared that Kuwait, during the UN Summit for permanent development on Sept 25, 2015, had signed the 2030 convention for permanent development with a total of 17 objectives. He affirmed that Kuwait has achieved large number of the objectives of this convention. Meanwhile, Acting Director General of Public Authority for Manpower Abdullah Al-Mutawtah said all countries worldwide, by signing international agreements and adopting recommendations of the International Labor Organization (ILO), have agreed on the right of workers to work in safe and secure environment that is free of diseases and dangers that could threaten their lives, health and incomes.
