Given that souls are mighty, the bodies are exhausted in pursuit of their aspirations. Leadership requires continuous effort and tireless work, while strengthening the presence of national cadres to perform their roles to the fullest.
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al- Jaber Al-Sabah is determined to establish partnerships with global companies and institutions, so that Kuwait becomes a leading platform in the competitive economy, not only in the Gulf, but also regionally.
Based on this, a series of meetings between the political leadership and a group of business owners and CEOs of several major international institutions were held last week. The discussions focused on expanding the horizons of foreign investment in the local environment, which is thirsty for it in all aspects -- whether industrial, service, economic or agricultural.
Some of the fruits of this have started to appear in the strategic relationship with major Chinese companies in the fields of afforestation and agriculture. This is a step on a long road, on which the leadership is working with all its capabilities to transform Kuwait into a regional economic base with a strong presence.
It is obvious that people always aspire for economic stability and to exploit opportunities to develop their societies, providing them with intrinsic strength to deal with the repercussions of unexpected events that may occur suddenly.
Since leaders, who are keen on serving their nations, bear the concerns of their people, they strive to become stronger in facing any event and transform threats into opportunities. Therefore, the efforts of His Highness the Amir, HH the Crown Prince and the rest of the political leadership are directed toward revitalizing Kuwait, which greatly suffered from the effects of political unrest and the resulting corruption that diminished the strength of economic activity.
Today, the opportunity is available for the country to shake off the dust and reveal its bright side. Undoubtedly, this requires high-level institutional performance and sound practices, not based on personal biases or thinking within the confines of squabbling. On this basis, government agencies are required to rise to the occasion, not close their doors to local and foreign investors, and abandon malicious behavior.
Their sole concern should not be to pursue a minor violation and turn it into a major case. The primary objective should be to encourage innovation and allow citizens to exert maximum effort to exploit every moment to promote fair competition in accordance with sound principles.
This means that government institutions must take advantage of the opportunities provided by the political leadership’s ongoing efforts to restore the country to the leadership position it once held. This leadership served as an important building block in the construction of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and at one point, even transformed into an Arab cultural and development center with a lasting impact. Today, there are numerous opportunities that cannot be overlooked. If they pass without capitalizing on them, it will lead to backwardness and a return to square one.
This is not the aspiration of the political leadership. It promised, and has delivered, to restore Kuwait to the high-level of leadership. Consequently, it is working on major strategic partnerships.
The leadership is keen on attracting major investments to diversify domestic resources, free the economy from the dominance of oil, and open the doors to Kuwaiti youths and local investors to play their part in this field. Kuwait is an important gateway to the development process, so we all want it to regain its economic and development glory and openness. Everyone here understands that stability is the key to growth and prosperity
