KUWAIT CITY, July 19: Official figures showed that the number of public and private sector workers who are citizens of European countries, North and South America, Australia and New Zealand totaled 15,462, reports Al-Rai daily. The latest statistics from the Central Statistics Bureau include a breakdown of these workers as follows:

• 6,384 Europeans (4,092 males and 2,292 females)

• 7,975 North Americans (5,743 males and 2,232 females)

• 560 South Americans (450 males and 110 females)

• 543 from Australia and New Zealand (403 males and 140 females).

Meanwhile, majority of workers from these countries are in the private sector – 14,489; compared to 973 in the government sector. Among those working in the private sector; 5,905 are from Europe; 7,555 from North America; 521 from South America; and 508 from Australia and New Zealand. In the government sector, 479 are from Europe, 420 from North America, 39 from South America, and 35 from Australia and New Zealand.
