LOS ANGELES, Sept 26, (Agencies: Grammy Award-winning musician Elton John is bidding farewell to his luxurious high-rise condominium in Atlanta. The property, which he acquired over two decades ago, is now on the market.
This Atlanta condo, originally consisting of six separate units, spans an impressive 13,332 square feet and boasts four bedrooms, four full bathrooms, and three half bathrooms. Built in 1987, the property was purchased by John a few years later and has since been transformed into a palatial two-story residence, designed for a life of opulence.
Situated in the heart of Georgia, John's former Atlanta residence offers breathtaking views of the midtown and downtown skylines, along with the Buckhead skyline. The listing for the property is being handled by Chase Mizell of Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby’s International Realty.
Inside the home, you'll find a stunning two-story dining room, a spacious living area, and a primary suite with an adjoining seating area. The property also features three guest rooms, an in-home fitness studio, and a spa/massage room. Wine enthusiasts will appreciate the five dedicated wine storage units on the premises.
John fondly recalled his time in Atlanta when he first moved to the city. "The only people I knew were real people, who had normal jobs," he told The Wall Street Journal. "The city adopted me, and I adopted it." The artist initially resided in hotels but eventually settled at Park Place in the Peachtree condominium complex in 1992. He described it as "the Rolls-Royce of condos in Atlanta."
Starting with a 2,500-square-foot duplex, John gradually acquired five more units over the years. Reflecting on this, he said, "I didn’t know what the first apartment that I bought would lead to, but it was a wonderful surprise. Everything about Atlanta was a surprise."
Elton John is known for his passion for collecting, and his Atlanta home is no exception. According to the listing, "every room in this home has been meticulously designed to showcase one of the world’s largest and most highly esteemed photography collections." The property also features a two-story grand salon with floor-to-ceiling windows, suitable for entertainment or even housing a grand piano, as John did.
Speaking of his collection, John admitted, "I’m afraid I’m not a minimalist. It was a bit of a nightmare to clean and a bit of a nightmare to know where everything was. But I’ve got one of those brains where if something’s been moved, I know exactly where it’s been moved to. And I put it back in the right place."
After an illustrious career spanning decades, Elton John recently concluded his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour. Due to his health and the COVID-19 pandemic, the tour had experienced delays. Reflecting on the journey, John expressed gratitude to his fans for their unwavering support.
John now resides in a 1920s home overlooking the Mediterranean Sea in Nice, France, which he affectionately refers to as "the summer house," according to Architectural Digest.
